Finance and Valuations Division
Responsibilities
  • Performing business valuations, including intangible assets, derivative instruments such as options and property, and assisting with JSE fairness opinions and TRP fair and reasonable opinions.
  • Research in support of valuations, capital raisings, deal origination and transaction analysis.
  • Building an in-depth knowledge of the client’s business and staying up-to-date on industry activities, marketplace trends and leading practices.
  • Assisting in the execution of capital raisings, buy-side, sell-side, BEE and other M&A transactions.
  • Assisting in drafting transaction documentation, including proposals, information memoranda and presentations.
  • Assisting in giving financial and strategic advice to clients.
  • Reviewing periodic financial information of listed clients and advising on compliance thereof with the JSE Listings Requirements.
  • Financial modelling and analysis.
Minimum requirements
Beneficial
  • CA or CFA qualification
  • Valuation-specific training
  • 2-3 years of relevant valuation experience
  • Valued companies for transactional / M&A / corporate action advisory purposes
  • Experience in valuations for accounting reporting purposes and valuing derivative instruments such as options
  • A good understanding of the JSE Listings Requirements and Companies Act as it relates to valuations, including experience in JSE fairness and/or TRP fair and reasonable opinions
  • Proficient in MS Excel, Word and PowerPoint
  • Strong financial modelling and financial analysis skills
  • Experience in various industries and sectors
  • Broader transaction / corporate finance experience (i.e., not just the valuation element)
  • A bias towards valuation and transaction experience in the listed space
